New Podcast Episode with JJ Hairston

We’re so excited to kick off Black History Month 2021 with this conversation between Chris Baker and JJ Hairston.

Chris and JJ talk about how artists wanting to echo what’s popular is an epidemic in the music industry today, and that being excited about your unique identity yields more longevity than chasing what’s popular.

JJ also encourages all of us that even in this long season of waiting, we’re all still growing and we’ll be even more prepared for the next season because we’ve faced such a long moment of not having our typical comfort crutches to lean on. Don’t miss this episode of The Worship and Technology Podcast!

Jonathan Stockstill | You Fight My Battles

Jonathan Stockstill's musical innovation and leadership style define the best of the new generation of church leaders. During the last 10 years, he has taken the church to new heights, opening five new church campuses across Louisiana, starting Bethany College and partnering with the Surge Project to plant 3,400 new churches around the globe.

"I tend to try to figure things out in the natural world. But I went through a season where it seemed like I was facing spiritual attack after spiritual attack. Through the process of writing "You Fight My Battles", God reminded me of three key scriptures: Exodus 14:13, when Moses told the Israelites that God would fight for them; all they needed to do was remain calm, 2 Chronicles 20:21, when King Jehoshaphat sent the worshipers ahead of the Israelite army and God fought for them, and finally, Acts 16 when Paul and Silas sang to God in the prison and God shook the prison cell in the midnight hour. This song came from the inspiration that if I just focus on praising God, he can and will fight the spiritual battles for me."

Praise To You Alone | Gas Street Music

Gas Street Music (formerly Worship Central) is the sound of Gas Street Church from Birmingham, UK. Their latest single  "Praise To You Alone" is now available! The song was written by Nick Herbert, Josh Gauton, Anna Hamilton and Jimmy James.

"We believe everything we do (or 'our lives') should be woven in worship, with a focus to wholeheartedly lead people into an encounter with Jesus. Featuring worship leaders and songwriters such as Tim Hughes, Luke & Anna Hellebronth, Nick Herbert, Millie Tilby (Lead vocal on ‘Praise To You Alone’), Michael Shannon and more, together we continue the legacy of writing and leading songs that fuel personal devotional and congregational expression."

"'Praise To You Alone' is about Jesus as the revealing of God’s unconditional love. He’s the centre of our worship. The gospel narrative is everything to us, without it we’re lost. Our worship needs a direction otherwise we get caught in idolatry. This song signals a desire to push into some new territory sonically."

Mitch Wong | Reputation

Mitch Wong is worship leader and songwriter who is passionate about the bringing together of faith and music. He believes that nothing can uplift a heart or transform a life like the Word of God does.

Born in Australia, Mitch grew up with a dream to use his lyrical and musical abilities to encourage those around him and lead them into relationship with Jesus. Having recently relocated to Nashville with his wife Steph, Mitch continues to write music and has written for artists including Chris Tomlin, Darlene Zschech, Kari Jobe, Matt Redman, Kim Walker-Smith, Cody Carnes, Jesus Culture, Planetshakers, David & Nicole Binion, Paul Baloche and Lincoln Brewster.

His latest single "Reputation" is now available! "Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God (Romans 10:17). My prayer is that as you hear these stories of God’s power and goodness, your faith would catch fresh fire today and that you would be reminded and encouraged that God is still moving and He won’t fail you!"

Radiate Worship | Blackout

Radiate Worship is a worship team from Bergen, Norway. Radiate aspires to uncover new ground in their style of music, and write songs that utilize musical elements that might not be too common in typical worship music. Their latest single "Blackout" is now available! The single is about trusting God and clinging to the truth in his word.

"We have waited patiently for a long time and are so happy that we’re finally able to share this with you! We hope it blesses you, helps you and encourages you."

STN Worship | Restoration

Restoration is the debut album from UK worship collective STN Worship. Throughout the album’s 12 songs are woven lyrics of hope and faith in a God who makes all things new. Produced in 2020, as the world longed for the hope of restoration, STN Worship wanted to release a project that created worship moments wherever people listened; songs that reassured our hearts and our minds that God was just as sovereign and present as He’s always been.

From the opening track ‘Moving Still’ - an anthem of confident assurance that God is alive and moving - to the simple, yet powerful ‘Beautiful Again’ - with stirring chorus lyrics  “What I thought was broken, you have made it beautiful again, when I came with nothing, You were all I needed in the end”  - the theme is clear: Restoration is and always has been God’s plan, we can trust him now more than ever.

Standout tracks include the bold and prophetic ‘Never Too Far From Home’, congregational favourites ‘I Surrender’ and ‘Great & Mighty’ (the latter written with Al Gordon of Worship Central, and Jason Zerbin of Zerbin), and ‘How Patiently.’
