CATEGORIES: News, Home Page, New Releases
Following up on his RIAA Gold-Certified album, Eye On It, six-time GRAMMY® winner TobyMac has released his sixth studio project, This Is Not A Test.  The album reached #1 on the iTunes Christian & Gospel chart upon its release and features collaborations with a diverse group of artists including a highly anticipated reunion with his former bandmates from DC Talk, Kevin Max and Michael Tait.  TobyMac shares the inspiration behind the album's title, "What hits me now more than ever is that you really don’t get a practice run at life.  This is it. In my friendships, raising my children, loving my wife, loving people, performing with my band and stepping on stage at arenas, I want to make every moment count." This Is Not A Test blends elements of rock, pop, and hip-hop into a collection of songs that stems from TobyMac's personal life experiences and examines important themes such as loving each other well and the richness of diversity. The album's first single, "Beyond Me," explores an awareness of God's greatness and our own need for Him in our lives.  The song encourages us to open ourselves to His will, trusting in His guidance, "You take me to the place where I know I need You. Straight to the depths that I can't handle on my own. And Lord I know, I know I need You So take me to Your great, take me to Your great unknown."  People will love the catchy lyrics and hip-hop feel of "Backseat Driver."  It's a fun song that is all about relinquishing our control to God, telling Him, "You got the wheel, take me where You wanna go. My heart is Yours, no matter where we roll." "Love Feels Like" features TobyMac's former DC Talk bandmates, Kevin Max and Michael Tate.  With its strong beat and the classic vibe that made DC Talk so popular, it gives us a look at how real love can push us out of our comfort zone and completely transform our lives, "Poured out, used up, still givin', stretching me out to the end of my limits.  This is what love (this is what love) feels like."  Dynamic and memorable, this new song is certainly going to be popular among fans of both TobyMac and DC Talk. TobyMac hopes that when people listen to this album, “I want them to walk away saying “I feel good. I feel like I can love my spouse well. I can love my friends. I feel like I’m even open to having a conversation about who God is. I want them to know love is worth everything you put in. If that happens, then I’ve done what I wanted to do.” Check out all the great new songs from This Is Not A Test, now available for download on iTunes! This Is Not A Test - TobyMac
