Bryan and Katie Torwalt have just released their new studio album titled Champion and it is full of congregational anthems written for the Church. This new project, which is Bryan and Katie's first new project since their 2013 release Kingdom Come, focuses on themes of God's presence in all circumstances and the victory we have through Him. “This album has taken time to write,” they share. “Longer than we had ever planned but, ultimately we feel like it was the Lord’s timing all along. The songs have come as we have lived life and grown. We hope that is reflected in this album.” Having previously released the MultiTracks for the album's first two singles, "Let There Be Light" and "High Above," we are excited to let you know that MultiTracks from the rest of the album are now available!
The album's title track, "Champion" is a triumphant declaration of Jesus' victory over sin and death. Katie shares, “Originally when we wrote ‘Champion,’ it was what I was needing in that moment dealing with fear and anxiety. However, as the album began to take shape and a theme of God’s victory and overcoming was in so many songs, we knew it had to be the title track. We feel with everything that is happening at this time in history, more than ever we want to be declaring the goodness of God and the incredible victory of Christ’s death and Resurrection.” The song rejoices that Jesus is on our side, fighting for us as our champion and proclaims His victory to all the earth, "We will shout it out from the mountaintops that our god is good, he has overcome. Let all the earth, every tribe and tongue, we will sing it out, He has overcome." "You Never Let Go" praises that God is always with us no matter what we might face. We can know that He will never withhold His presence or His love. The chorus is simple, yet it expresses a great truth as it reminds worshippers of His faithfulness, "You never let go, never let go, never let go. You pull me in close, pull me in close, pull me in close." "God With Us" explores a similar theme, worshipping God for His mercy and love and praising that nothing can separate us from Him, "God with us, God for us, Nothing can come against, no one can stand between us. God with us, God for us, nothing can come against, no one can stand between us."
