Singer Joel Smallbone explains, "We hope that the idea behind the song will place a spotlight on the truth, that we can actively and deliberately – moment by moment and day by day – search for and choose 'joy.'” His brother, Luke, adds, "We’re not talking about happiness, we’re talking about joy, and I think there’s something very, very different about those two words and how important it is for us to not just let joy fly by us, but to actively choose it. When you wake up in the morning, are you going to be joyful? I think that’s a decision we all get to make.”

The independent worship band based out of Lakeland, Florida is releasing this studio single in anticipation of its new live record set to release later this year. Worship Pastor and vocalist David Ryan Cook shares, "In Luke 9:57-62, Jesus asks a man to follow Him but is met with the man's reasons as to why he can't. 'Won't Look Back' is our personal response that declares no matter what life may bring our way, we have resolved in our hearts that we won't look back..we will count the cost and follow Jesus."
