Biography

Introducing Joel Barber, a passionate young worship leader, songwriter and accomplished musician who is the worship pastor at Leicester City Vineyard Church, UK. Joel (20) has grown up in a church-planting family; his parents Steve & Juliet have planted both the Southend and Leicester City Vineyard churches and Joel was Leicester’s first worship leader at the tender age of 12!

After studying guitar at the Institute of Contemporary Music in London for 2 years, he started playing guitar regularly at Soul Survivor summer festivals with Tom Smith, Beth Croft and Tim Hughes. He’s also led worship at numerous national Vineyard UK events and appeared on several Vineyard recordings.

In 2015, Joel connected with Nick Herbert (Gas Street / Worship Central) and they began writing songs together at Nick’s house. Nick is well known for co-writing worship anthems such as ‘God’s Great Dance Floor’, ‘Can’t Stop Your Love’ and ‘The Way’ and Joel and Nick began crafting songs for the Streets Of Grace project.

In 2016, producer Jonny Bird (Martin Smith, Soul Survivor etc), was drafted in to produce the EP and sessions soon commenced at various studios on the South Coast including Martin Smith’s Bones Studio in Brighton.

The final result, Streets Of Grace EP, is an intensely compelling collection of songs that document Joel’s personal journey as a young worshipper intertwined with the story of Leicester City Vineyard and the soundtrack that has marked their story as a local church over the last 18 months.
