New Release from Desperation Band - Banner

CATEGORIES: News, Home Page, New Releases
Desperation Band, the youth worship band from New Life Church in Colorado Springs, has just released it's latest album, Bannerwhich was recorded live at the July 2014 Desperation Conference.  Worship leader, Jon Egan, says, “We want to make sure we’re singing songs that help young people understand they are in a moment of time, but that the church has existed for thousands of years. We want to place an emphasis on history, returning to the sacred call to worship.” The album captures both the energy that was abundant at the conference as well as the movement of worship, each song connecting the past with the present and future.  The title track, "Banner" reaches back to the Old Testament picture of God going before us, never faltering as He guides us. Egan comments, “I’d been wanting to write a song about God being our banner, the ancient truth that God is with us, leading the march through history."  "On The Throne" features Kari Jobe and continues this theme, praising God's faithfulness and majesty, allowing us to walk through life's trials without being overcome.  The chorus proclaims, "For the Lord is, He is able.  He is faithful, higher than the mountains that I face.  Every season, I will press on for God alone is on the throne."  "Make A Way" reminds us of God's sovereignty, which is an assurance that so many need today in this uncertain world. Jesus made a way for us on the Cross and continues to move in us today.  We can always place our hope in Him for, "Where there is no way, You make a way.  Where no one else can reach us, You find us."  "We Are Yours" expresses a desire for Jesus to transform our lives, praising Him for all that He is and declaring, "We are Yours.  We are Yours.  Your love endures.  Jesus, we're Yours!"  These songs speak truth and offer devotion, encouraging us to impact the world for Christ.
