Indie Showcase: Sanctuary by Day One Worship

CATEGORIES: News, Home Page
First Baptist Dallas' Day One Worship draws its name from the moment in every believer's life when God's providence intervenes and charts a new course that draws them closer to Him, their 'Day One.'  As a worship team, they have a deep desire to put praise on the lips of God's people and to create moments in worship where they can simply meet with God in His presence.  This week, we are excited to feature their latest release, Sanctuary, as our Indie Showcase.  The team shares, "A sanctuary is a place of refuge and safety, or a holy place. Psalm 77:13 declares that God is in the sanctuary. These songs express our hearts desire to rest and take refuge in the presence of God." Sanctuary truly emphasizes the rest we find in the presence of God.  "Back Home" touches on those times when we realize just how much we need Jesus and it rejoices that He is always there, faithfully reaching us and guiding us back to Him.  The song declares, "And when I can't see just what's in front of me, You take my hand and out of the darkness lead.  And when I'm lost and can't make it on my own, You're just a prayer away.  Show me the way to come back home."  With a light acoustic feel, "Sing Over Me" tenderly marvels at God's incredible love and grace. Both musically and lyrically, it captures the feeling of peace that is found in surrendering to Him and sitting in His presence, "As you sing over me the sweetest song and I rest here in your peace and I come undone and I'm encountering love. It's more than enough to satisfy the depth of my need in this moment as you sing over me."  "Run" is a gorgeous duet that draws from Psalm 46:10 as it encourages worshippers to be still and know that He is God.  He sees all that we are and reaches out to us, not in condemnation, but with love.  Warm strings provide a moving and powerful backdrop for this message of redemption and peace.  One of the song's writers, Gabe Evans, shares, "We just want to remind everyone who hears this song that it's ok to be broken and it's ok to have struggles if we can be still and know that He is God."
