Indie Showcase: Invade by Third Culture Worship

CATEGORIES: News, Home Page
Mixing contemporary Christian, Gospel, and R&B styles, Third Culture Worship brings forward a multi-cultural worship experience in their latest release, Invade, which includes notable guest artists William McDowell, Keith Staten, Steve Crawford and Sheila E. As a ministry, Third Culture Worship aspires not to merely "do worship" for people, but to teach, train, and equip others to grow in their own journeys of leading worship in their own communities. Invade was inspired by 2 Chronicles 5, when the ark of the covenant was brought to the temple and as the people praised the Lord, singing, "He is good. His love endures forever," His glory filled the temple. Worship leaders, Vaughn Thompson Jr. and his wife, Irene, share, "It is fearfully and reverently our humble effort to honor and recreate this encounter with God in a contemporary worship setting. " The core message of Invade is one of surrender, inviting God to come to us and have His way in our lives, as we transfer all authority to Him.  The title track, "Invade" expresses this in a heartfelt worship anthem.  Seeking God's presence, singing, "Lord come fill this place. Invade our time and space," the song echoes the Israelites in 2 Chronicles, "Lord You are good. Lord You are good. Your Love endures forever and ever and ever!" "The Question" continues with this theme, emphasizing the way God compels us to Himself, expressing wonder at His grace and a deep need and desperation for Him.  Rich both musically and lyrically, it proclaims, "Lord I believe that You are calling, That You are drawing me to worship no one but You in Spirit and Truth. That’s why I give myself to no one else but You." "How Great Is Your Love" is piano-led, giving it a tender intimacy. The repeated refrain speaks of the depth of God's love, singing, "How great is Your love, How great is Your love, How great is Your love that You have poured on us. Vaughn states, "These songs were written for congregations and from congregational experiences. As a worship pastor, my heart is to see the song of the congregation come forth and the Glory of God appear…not my gifts and talents on display. My desire is that these songs could maybe be a tool for some worship leaders out there; just like other worship leaders songs have been a tool and a blessing to me as a worship leader.” Invade: Third Culture Worship, Vol. 2 - Third Culture Worship
