This week, we are excited to showcase Here In The Waiting, the debut EP from San Francisco Bay Area songwriter and worship leader Linzy Westman. Linzy’s heart is to create music that meets people where they are and guide them toward Jesus. She is passionate about seeing God’s name lifted high in this hurting world and helping others recognize that it is because of Him we can fight for joy and healing.
The vision behind Here In The Waiting came out of a difficult season in Linzy's life in which she began to search for meaning and ask God many questions. She shares, "Through it all, I slowly realized that as I fixed my eyes on the things before me — the circumstances that I could see with my own eyes, the feelings of the day — the struggle worsened, the days got darker. But, the more that I could lift my eyes and fix them on Christ and on a future in heaven that is promised to me, where all pain, loss, and hardship are gone, the more freedom I experienced. It made me realize how much we are often “here in the waiting” for things to get fixed in our lives — for the hard things to disappear, when really we are here in the waiting for our Savior to come and fix this messed up world. We are waiting for eternity. And when our eyes are fixed on that, it changes everything in the day to day."
She continues, "I would guess that every one of us is in some season of waiting — waiting for that job to come through, waiting to find some purpose in life, waiting for the heartache to heal, for the bad memories to disappear. I want you to know that God hears you. He knows what you’re going through and He will answer in His time. Our God is a god of hope, love, and He promises that one day He will take it all away and give you eternal life with Him. Until then, we remain here in the waiting."
This EP is a collection of songs full of rich sounds and sincere messages of God's faithfulness and promises that will resonate with worshippers everywhere. Linzy shares a gorgeous rendition of the classic hymn, "It Is Well," blending in an original line that speaks of fixing our eyes upon the cross and relying on Christ in the midst of our trials. "Oh My Soul" looks ahead to the day Jesus will return and expresses our deepest longing for Him as we wait, "We long for You, we long for You. We long for Your kingdom here. We long for You, we long for You, Oh God would You draw us near." "I Surrender All To Thee" was listed on Worship Leader Magazine's Song Discovery January/February 2015 compilation. The anthem tells the story of the Gospel, praising Jesus for the grace and love He showed us on the cross and offering Him complete devotion, "So I surrender all to Thee. I surrender all to Thee. I give You all that I am, I give You everything. I surrender all to thee."
