I wanted every second of every track to feel like Christmas and to give people something familiar, yet also to gift them with something else, a new experience. We’re not just celebrating ‘He was born and He was God.’ We’re celebrating the fact that God is coming on a rescue mission and that’s exciting!”

His latest release, Coming Alive, was recorded live at his home church in Kansas City, Missouri, and captures a spirit of revival through songs that declare that the Lord alone is worthy of praise. Smith comments, "We're not writing songs to make better church services. I couldn't care less about that. We're not interested in chasing radio. It's the heart of God we're chasing. New Release from Desperation Band - Banner Wednesday, October 1, 2014 Desperation Band, the youth worship band from New Life Church in Colorado Springs, has just released it's latest album, Banner, which was recorded live at the July 2014 Desperation Conference. Worship leader, Jon Egan, says, “We want to make sure we’re singing songs that help young people understand they are in a moment of time, but that the church has existed for thousands of years. We want to place an emphasis on history, returning to the sacred call to worship.”
