New Podcast Episode with Israel Houghton

“Strength is for service not status.”

Israel Houghton is a Grammy award-winning recording artist, songwriter, producer and worship leader, as well as a composer and multi-instrumentalist. He formed Israel & New Breed in 1995, which was started to be more of a movement than a music group.

Chris Baker has a unique interview perspective as he’s been a part of Camp New Breed for years. They discuss the origins of New Breed and how stewarding the longevity of a cross-cultural movement comes from practicing the presence of God and always having the posture of a disciple.

New Podcast Episode with Matt Redman

“We don’t just worship the God of today (the God who is) - we worship the God of yesterday, today and forever.”

Matt Redman is a GRAMMY®-Award winning worship leader and songwriter who has been a leading contributor to the global Church’s songbook over the last 20 years. He joins us to speak on the evolution of songwriting in the worship space (the growth of co-writing and how it’s being taken more seriously) and how the theme of the cross has been a common thread throughout his career. He shares his excitement though for having the theme of the resurrection (and the joy and freedom it brings) be more a part of songs today.

New Podcast Episode with Anthony Evans

“You have to feel it to heal it.”

Grammy-nominated Gospel artist, author, and speaker Anthony Evans is known for songs that merge a message of faith with a contemporary sound. The son of Dr. Tony Evans, founder and pastor of Dallas, Texas' Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship, as well as a high-profile radio and television host, Anthony Evans started his career in 2001 as a background singer for Kirk Franklin. Launching his solo career in 2004, Evans has released several albums since then and really broadened his reach when he competed on NBC’s The Voice in early 2012 (Season 2).

In August, Anthony released his latest book When Faith Meets Therapy which he co-authored with his personal therapist, Stacy Kaiser. Anthony and Stacy take the conversation around mental health and faith to a next level, sharing insights from Anthony’s personal experience with therapy as well as poignant takeaways from Stacy. In this conversation, Anthony and our host Chris Baker discuss how being a preacher’s kid created external pressure but never internal pressure, how Anthony led the trend of taking CCM songs and putting them into the cross-cultural context, but the majority of the conversation centers on When Faith Meets Therapy coping with grief, shame, and doing the work off stage so it pours into your identity and posture on stage.
