Indie Showcase: Love Over Fear by Community Music Friday, April 14, 2017 Community Music has just released their first EP called Love Over Fear. Based out of Chicago, the group is comprised of church planters and artists who work together to equip local and global artists and leaders in the Jesus Mission, and they present a clear message that love overcomes fear and that worship is bigger than just songs and Sundays. Love Over Fear urges the church to put their focus on Jesus Christ alone as they continue the holy work of bringing God’s kingdom to earth. Written for church communities everywhere, these songs contain simple yet powerful lyrics and melodies such as in “My Strength” which draws directly from the psalms with the declaration that God alone is the source of our strength and protection, and the title track “Love Over Fear” which tells the story of creation, incarnation, Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross and His ultimate victory over sin and death. What started out in 2009 as a small worship gathering in a home has since grown to encompass hundreds of worshippers meeting together on a regular basis. Their music focuses on declaring the truth of who God is as in "God That Saves" which they recently released for radio. "God That Saves" was written by worship leader Stephen McWhirter as the result of an encounter he had in which at the height of years of addiction, he encountered the God of Zephaniah 3:17. It gives a testimony of the way Jesus found him and through His love and grace, rescued him and gave him new life. Not only does the song rejoice in the power of Jesus' saving grace, but it offers encouragement that God desires to reveal Himself as the One who can save people from every type of bondage.
