Following up on their recent single, "Touch The Sky," Hillsong UNITED has pre-released another track off of their upcoming album, Empires. "Prince of Peace" focuses on the One who brings true peace. It gives the assurance that we can always rely on God and that He will come, breaking through all our fear and turmoil, meeting us even as the storms of this world rage all around.
The song starts soft and acoustic, giving testimony to how He hears our prayers and has to come to give us rest, "Tearing through the night, riding on the storm, staring down the fight my eyes found Yours. Shining like the sun, striding through my fear, the Prince of Peace met me there." It then starts to build, the music growing and layering in drums, guitars, and both arpeggiated and atmospheric synths, all the while maintaining a prayerful intensity as it proclaims His faithfulness, sharing a powerful message that we can all take to heart especially in the midst of the uncertainties of this life, "Your love surrounds me when my thoughts wage war. When night screams terror, there Your voice will roar. Come death or shadow, God, I know Your light will meet me there. When fear comes knocking, there You'll be my guard. When day breeds trouble, there You'll hold my heart. Come storm or battle, God, I know Your peace will meet me there." Quoting the words of the Psalms, it acknowledges that He is God and that we need fear no evil for He is the author of peace and remains always, with us.
