The lyrics of Hillsong UNITED's brand new song, "Touch The Sky," speak of coming to a place of surrender and there, encountering God. It is the first single from UNITED's upcoming album, Empires, which is set to be released at the end of May. In Matthew 5, Jesus spoke of the Kingdom of Heaven as He taught the Sermon on the Mount. The culture then was similar to what it is today, the world placing a heavy emphasis on status and coming out on top. Even as Christians today, it can be a struggle not to live with this mindset, but what Jesus taught was in complete contrast, instead emphasizing humility and surrender. Band member Joel Houston shares, "In the world's view, surrender would be seen as maybe a sign of weakness or defeat, but it's the opposite. We surrender not because we've lost, but we surrender because He's already won everything for us. That's where the Kingdom of Heaven begins: surrender." "Touch The Sky" carries this theme of letting everything go and letting God have complete control. The words prayerfully point upward to Christ as we prostrate ourselves before Him, "Find me here at Your feet again, Everything I am, reaching out, I surrender. Come sweep me up in Your love again And my soul will dance On the wings of forever."
